The Heart of Tiamo

Surrounded by shady green trees, dewy grass and bright pink flowers is the main lodge, the heart of our Caribbean beach resort here at Tiamo. This is where you gather to eat,drink, and socialize with other guests and staff. We have an excellent choice of great wines and top-shelf liquors at our well-stocked bar. The lodge also houses our diverse Tiamo library, with everything from great works of literature to field guides and maps of the area.

For breakfast you may opt to sit right next to the large screened-in windows. Watch the morning birds and awakening scenery while you sip tea and break your fast on coconut French toast.

We have a number of cushy couches and chairs to choose from. You can get lost in the pillows reading a book from our library. Guests are encouraged to browse through these books in the lodge, or take them to their bungalow to read. Feel free to bring us one of your favorites for future guests to enjoy. We have self-guided tours as well as picture books to help you identify some of the underwater mystery you’ll explore.

The bar seats are the prime spot to watch the girls at work. Watch Sandy mix her famous bright yellow “Sunshine” drink. Or talk to other guests about the day’s activities while enjoying an ice-cold Kalik, the beer of the Bahamas.

The seats around the wooden card table have been sat on for many intense scrabble games, poker games, chess, and puzzles. Tucked in the corner, this table is also a great location for a private romantic dinner with just your loved one.

Surrounded in Coconut Palms and Gumbo Limbo Trees, the best seats in the lodge are on the porch. Outside, immersed in your natural surroundings, you can watch an entire day go by: Observe an Andros Rock Iguana slowly grazing on native plants, listen to the faint heartbeat of humming bird wings as they travel from flower to flower or just view a signature South Andros sunset.
